Cooking with Jen

Anton got me this here Empire Red KitchenAid this last September. I have wanted one forever! My cheap hand mixer stopped working so I told him I needed a KitchenAid to replace it :) It has been a lot of fun. I have made plenty of chocolate chip cookies with it, some banana bread and other various baked goods. I have yet to learn how to make "real" homemade bread. Besides baking (which is my favorite) I have been experimenting with cooking different recipes. This last week I have made a new dish each night for dinner. Anton has really been enjoying the fruits of my labor. I have gotten all of my recipes from allrecipes.com. I love that website. So far all the recipes I have used have been really good and simple. Today I am making Creamy Split Pea Soup and chocolate chip cookies for a potluck we are going to at a friends house. I am always nervous trying something new when other people will be eating besides Anton and me. If anyone would like some of the recipes just let me know. Today at lunch Madilyn was a very big eater. She ate a whole jar of Sweet Potatoes, a quarter of a jar of bananas and a quarter of a jar of applesauce (her favorite). Whenever she would open her mouth for another bite she would make this noise like "ahhhh" but it had a twist of irritation to it. I guess I wasn't feeding her fast enough.

I love allrecipes.com too!!! Every time I decide to make cookies I search on there to find a new recipe we haven't tried yet. I just made bread bowls yesterday using a recipe from allrecipes (we had beef stew in the bread bowls) yum! Congratulations on getting a kitchen aid (I would love one too someday, right now we have a really old bosch that someone gave us...but it's WAY better than a hand mixer by far)!!! I didn't know that you like cooking, that's cool! I have to say that I prefer baking over cooking (as you can tell from my physique :) :) !!!

I am so jealous of your kitchenaid appliance! but i'm happy you get to enjoy it! let me know how your recipe gathering turns out. I'm not in cooking mode, so I don't really know of any good recipes...you should try rachel rays 30 minute meals cookbook if you like italian style food, and lots of EVOO, and garlic.... :)

Love, Ana
